Chris Potter
Born in Chicago and raised in South Carolina, saxophonist Chris Potter has established himself as one of the major figures in contemporary jazz, recognised for his exceptional virtuosity and keen sense of improvisation. Revealed in the 1990s as part of Red Rodney's quartet, he quickly made a name for himself alongside great figures such as Dave Holland, Pat Metheny, and Herbie Hancock. A prolific leader, he has developed a rich discography that blends tradition and modernity, where post-bop influences, modal jazz, and sound experiments intersect.
His project “Underground,” blending jazz with contemporary groove, marks a major turning point in his career and has achieved widespread international success.
More recently, he has continued his musical explorations with ambitious ensembles such as “Circuits” and “Eagle’s Point,” further asserting an increasingly personal style of composition.
